Strap Button Replacement on Warwick

Alright heres the deal, I have had my warwick doublebuck for a little while now, but the strap buttons have caused nothing but problems. So when I first got the bass brand new, I realized that the stock warwick buttons are straplock capable, wow! sweet! but when I put the locks on (the type where you push the button in the middle) the locks were on the very end of the button, not seeing the harm in this i played with them. After playing the screws holding in the buttons and the buttons themselves started to become loose because of how the strap was sitting on the very end of the strap buttons. So recently I have been playing shows with regular straps (w/o straplocks) and the strap has come off a few times, luckily never ever ever dropped but caught by me in mid air. Should I just replace the strap buttons on the bass totally, or get a new kind of straplock, because I heard that it is not good to change the strap buttons because that when you change the screw in the body, it makes the screwhole larger, making it easier to come out.....any ideas? I got a gig tonight, and need some help from the TB peanut gallery!
