strap locks?

Schaller/Proline/Fender one I find the best. I've used them all & these never let me down once. Tighten the nut & peg holder to your strap using 2 adjustable wrenches or vise grips. Tighten them hard & they will never come loose. I've had the same set on my strap for 5 years now & I just buy new pegs for new basses when I get them.

I love the cheap Dunlops, they are well made of hard plastic, they easily go on/off any instrument. I've been using them for years w/ no problems. No mods, just twist 'em on. Inexpensive too!

I like the grolsh beer washers they are cheap and effective a strap hasnt fallen off since it started using them.

+1 on these, love them, and can be used without the lock on your strap! But the screw heads can strip easily, especially when you are going into the head portion of the strap lock on the bass, many screwdrivers will not fit into the opening, but many will so get the proper screwdriver...

Just bought two sets of the dunlop straploks. so far they are holding up to there bargain. If you get them be careful when screwing the new screw in, it takes some force so make sure you dont strip the screw.

A screw must never be forced in. You first need to drill a hole. It will eliminate the posibilty of the screw strip as well as wood crack.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but wiping the screw threads across wax (or even bar soap), once the proper hole's been drilled, helps ease entry.

I use Schallers and have never had a problem. I also like the grolsch washers too.

I have schallers on every guitar/bass i own and have 2 straps that i use on everything. Never had a failure but came close once. Make sure to double check the tightness of the nut that secures the part that connects to the strap regularly

I use those, but they have a tendancy to come off at the bottom of my bass for some reason. Gonna switch to Dunlop Dual's on my basses soon, when i can afford to.

What can go wrong with the flush mounts strap lock wise?

you forget your strap, at which point not only do you not have yours, but you won't be able to borrow anybody else's, either, and have to do the gig sitting in a chair

Schaller. Even if the mechanism fails, it will still hold your bass. No force is actually on the mechanism.

About the threads coming undone, I just put a little bit of PTFE plumbing tape on the thread, so the metal-metal rattle is eliminated.
