Straplock screw problems

Alright so I'm using Hennesy straplocks on my G&L Tribby, and after a slight mishap where I was handing my teacher my bass and the patch cord (which I wrap up and around my strap, like Claypool) was being stepped on by him, and put some serious force on the screw. Causing it to rip out party and remain loose whenever I try to screw it back in. Now I thought the solution would be a bigger screw but I can't seem to find one that fits the straplocks I'm using Do I just need to keep looking for a larger screw that will fit? Or get a new kind of straplock?

I used a bit of wood glue, some toothpicks cut to size and just use your old screw and tighten the hell out of it. I had to do it when I put strap locks on my old p-bass and they haven't even budged in like 6 years.

^^^also, crazy glue works fine if you don't have wood glue.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have wood glue but don't understand how the toothpicks would help. Can you elaborate on that?

The picks will fill the too large hole and create some 'new wood' for the screw to turn into. They'll stay in place with the glue.

The toothpicks fill the hole and give the screws something to dig into. Usually it works really well and holds nice and tight. That said, I did have one bass that just would not stay tight no matter how many times I used toothpicks and wood glue so I used super glue and it hasn't moved since.

Shove the toothpicks(slivers of similar wood also work)into the hole; it will effectively shrink the inside diameter, causing the screws' threads to bite into the wood & hold on. Glue makes it stay in better.
