Strat style shortscale bass build

While I have a little free time...

This pic shows the original Musicmaster bridge and the reliced new jackplate. Look about right?

Also notice the outline of a P bass ashtray cover around the bridge. That cover could never fit over that bridge, but I wanted to create the illusion that it was there and then removed. This would have been very noticable with the neck amber tint(I was going to leave the masked cover on during spraying) but it's a little more subtle now with just screw holes and an outline impression in the nitro.

Again, sorry to keep jumping back and forth, I just keep forgetting to put some of these pics in order.

Here's the body with four coats of Vintage Cream nitro, and about eleven coats of clear nitro (one can of Reranch clear and one can of Deft clear). Then wait 30 days to wet sand and buff...

Fastforward 30+ days...

The body is wetsanded to 1500 grit (I just got sick of sanding) then rubbed out with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0. Then a couple coats of Zymol cleaner wax (love that stuff!). Looks very nice to me, I'll have a hard time doing any relicing now! look closely and you can see the bridge cover impression in the nitro. I guess the faux pickups didn't make it into these pics:(

Two coats of sheilding paint in the cavity and foil covering the back of the pickguard. I thought I'd try a film/oil cap for this and went with a .1 uf like the original '51 P bass.

And here it is complete. I may actually add another pickup at some point, I'm thinking about making my own. If I do I'll make them fit the string spacing better pole to pole. Probably re-make the pickguard for the smaller pickups. As it is, I can move the pickup to each position, but it really sounds great in the middle.

edit:
dayum i shulda read the thread closer.
just one pup?
so it prob sounds liek a 51 p riightt?

I will try to post a sound clip as soon as I figure out how. Yeah, I guess it sounds like a '51 P, although I've never played one. I think the pickup might be set a little high, because it sounds a little distorted. I kinda like it like that:D The .1uf cap isn't as dark as I thought it would be from reading reviews.
