I see what he did there - it's similar to one of the more exotic tone controls on some Fenders (TBX tone control, I think). Either way, cool stuff. Thanks for digging the link up.

The TBX is an active midboost. This is a passive bass cut
The only other exotic tone control I can think of on modern Fenders are the ones with the treble bleed network.
EDIT: I have been proven wrong. The TBX is a "ganged" pot that does some interesting things. It's still a bit different from the 'tight control' I posted.

Ok, so this is where I'm at. Ready to put the new p'ups in place and re-wire. I'll take out the faux p'ups, not sure what to do with them though. Anybody need a pair of fake pickups?

I really like this setup. I've read it over and over to let it sink in and it really makes the most sense for a bass, to me anyway.
I've been going over diagrams online, trying to revamp and combine to get this to work but I can't figure it out.
Someone with wiring know how want to help me out here? A quick diagram would be sweet!
I have a three way switch (see pic) and the pots, just need to get it to all work together.

It is based on the Seymour Duncan std Jazz schematic with the addition of the switch and extra pup.

I'm actually using a 3 way switch, probably doesn't matter, right? I'll give it a try later on tonight.

I wasn't sure about the switch, but it just looked to have a lot of connections for a 3 way in your photos so I drew it s a 5.

I'm a bit tired from a long day so I made a couple small mistakes, but it worked on the first try. I just have to switch the (+) pickup lead wires on the 3 way switch and move one wire on the tone pot.
The 3 way switch and the tone pot work backwards. I'll straighten it out tomorrow.
I had to play quietly trying not to wake the kids, but it definitely has several distinct sounds. The new pickups sound great, but I was so amazed that the wiring worked out that I didn't really get that "I made those" feeling, lol.

The two vol pots are new ('08) but the tone pot is an original from the Musicmaster dated '78 (hard to see with the solder in the way). They are all identical CTS split shafts. The cap is a .1 uf oil and film I got on Ebay.

That's better! The strings line up nicely with the new pickups and their adjusted pole spacing.
