Street Performing

Hey all,

I live in LA and I want to start street performing in Santa Monica at the promenade/pier. I want to play bass to backing tracks and just jam. I also will be singing at times and playing acoustic guitar.

I'm wondering what is the best set up to do this?

I have a gb shuttlemax 9.2 but my cab is a big Avatar 2x12. Was thinking about grabbing a 1x15 and then getting one of those portable generators to power it. Or should I invest in a decent portable PA and then plug straight into that while also playing mp3's through it as well.

Either way I will need some sort of PA or speaker system to play backing tracks through.

Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated!

Yeah, I think I've seen people use them out there.

Because I've seen plenty of musicians playing out of amps and how else could they be powered?

Battery powered.

I would check with the city to get full information on the regs for public performances.

I've never seen a battery powered guitar/bass amp.

Yeah, I'm doing some more research now. The Pignose 30 looks promising. Found one on craiglist for $90.

Wondering though if it's better option to get a PA and plug straight into that. That way I can do backing tracks and or vocals at the same time.

I snagged the pignose off craigslist. Doesn't sound bad at all.

Are there any available electrical outlets on the pier? We carry a 100' extension cord on a small reel with us for such occasions. You do have to be careful not to trip people, though.
