string and pickup spacing

I'm not a bass tech so some help to see if I'm thinking right ....on my fender jazz deluxe and warwick stage 2 ....the E and A string boom ...and the D and G not so much ...I want an even tone across all 4....I'm guessing I need to lower the bass end of the pickups and elevator the high end on the pups ...on both the bridge and neck pups ...is that right or is there other tricks I could use ...thanks very much

yes you are correct, the E and A strings are louder by nature, lowering the pick-up under those strings will help in getting a even tone across all of the strings.
