String height and Playing Style

In most (if not all) the setup guides I've read, one idea they all seem to have is that, if you have a heavier, more agressive style of playing, you need a higher string height, a lighter attack, and you can get away with a lower string height. Now I'm not disagreeing with that, but I had a thought that if you have a higher string action, then you need to play more agressively, conversely it's easier to play with a light touch if you have low action.
Am I making any sense here?

yeah i get ya..years ago when i was just starting out,no clue in the world as to good/bad guitars i seen an "old guy"(maybe about my age now) with a "real fender jazz" he had such a light touch but the sound just knocked me out.after the gig i went to him asked a few questions and he invited me to his place and showed me how to set up my bass and basicly became a mentor in a way..(he is in his late 60s now and still uses his fender and Marshall suberbass head.) low action takes away a lot of strain on the hands it does make things easier but its harder to do imo..but high action also has its plus points.the attack is different.i have different action on all my bass/guitars depending what i feel like..high action feels better to me playing hard rock where aggression plays a part in what your doing..

Why would you need to play more agressively?. With a higher action you can play more agressively, you just don't have to. If you need more output then you can jack the pups up to compensate.

Steve Harris has his strings ultra low, and he smacks his strings pretty hard. Personally, I have my strings medium-low(they don't want to go lower), and it is more comfortable for me when I use fingers, pick, or slap.

EDIT: It sounds better to me as well.
