    Hey gang, please let us know what your string heights are.

    Measure from the fingerboard to the underside of the strings at the end of the board.

    Thanks, Jake

    I'm back to the full plain guts this week, so its a touch higher than normal:
    G 11mm
    D 11mm
    A 9mm
    E 8mm

  3. 7-10mm, with spiro mittels. This is after a new fingerboard, so it plays quite comfortably.

    My G string is a little under 3mm, and the E string is a hair over 3mm. I can't imagine having it much higher. I had it a little lower a while ago, but raised it up so I could hit the strings just a little harder. I'll probably set it down when a get a stiffer set of strings than these Thomastik's.

    I voted for the highest one though truthfully I'm at closer to 10mm for the E but 8mm for the G.

    That's amazingly low. My E string is thicker than that!

    8 - 9 mm G to 11 - 12 mm E

    Yup. that's how i'm set up. Seems low from where I'm coming from . . . . . but I would call it "medium high".

    PBass, you're over here on the burly DB side - even the women use bigger string heights than that! :D

    I didn't intend it to be a jazz-only poll, I just didn't know what I was doing when I made it! :)

    The heights may seem a little low considering this is a 7/8 with a 43 7/8" string length.
    The strings are 4/4 Spirocore Mittel.
    E - 9.5 mm
    A - 8.75 mm
    D - 8 mm
    G - 7.75 mm

    7-10mm with Dominant GDA and spiro stark E. Feels pretty tense but speaks quickly and with authority.

    I just looked at this again. After I put the Stark E back on the Alsatian Wonderdog I dropped my strings a turn. Stark E Mitt A/D/G is:

    G= 7mm
    E= 10mm

    Downright low for me!

    The Cleveland still has Spiro Stark E, Mitt A, and Gamut Heavy+ plain gut D/G. It's:

    G= 9mm
    E= 12mm

    Funny how they both feel very similar regardless.
