Double Bass String ID please? Then a rec?

Red silk on both sides, silver/metal ball ends. when asking for "mediums" at Gage about 5 years ago they put these on.

Any string recommendations? My profile is:

1. Use = arco and pizz 50/50
2. Sound = I want brightness/high end, long sustain, but still meaty.
3. Feel = I'd say thin gauge and high tension.
4. I've used the above strings. They feel slightly heavy to me but I'm not sure.

I play free jazz so stamina/speed is key. Add all this ^^ to adjust action to be super low and I'm good to go. It's a very mean sounding rig 60's ply Juzek + ebony board + Realist + Trace Elliot combo.

Seems you have medium (mittel) Spirocores.
May you'd like the Weich (soft, or light)) gauge more?

Sure! On the site I see "Solo", "Weich", und "Stark" but what are the Mittel gauge measurements. I'm trying to compare. Thanks Francois.

Gauge measurements are on the 'Double Bass Strings' page at: www.thebassspa.com

Solo gauge are meant to be tuned to F#/B/E/A and are consequently thinner and lighter. As Francois said, the Weichs are lovely strings.
