String ID question

I just bought a like new Hagstrom Viking bass, so these could be the strings that came with the bass. Flats, pretty flexible, gold ball ends, black silks.

Any idea? Thanks.

Do they have black silk at both ends? Also, can you do something for me? Measure the length of the E string from the ball end to the start of the silk at the tuner end. Thanks.

Silks just at headstock end. I'm guessing medium gauge. Will take off a string and measure later on. Sorry, but tough too see black silks on a black bass.

What's the scale length on that bass?

30.75, but this is the bridge, so I believe it takes medium scale strings.

This pic shows they DO have black silk at the ball end as well. Based on that I would say they're Dunlop Flats, which are one of the more flexible flats (as in your description). Dunlop started color-coding their ball ends a few years ago, but they did come with all brass ball ends prior to that.

In addition... Dunlop Flats do come in both 40-100 and 45-105 sets, and "short scale" (32" ball end to taper/silk), "medium scale" (34" ball end to taper/silk) and "long scale" (37.25" ball end to taper/silk).

I don't remember Dunlop flats ever having silk at the ball ends. Could be DR Legends also.

Dunlop Flats have always had black silk at both ends since the beginning. DR Legends come with gold silk, not black.

I had preordered these new flatwound strings by Dunlop and finally received them.
I was excited to try these out because I'm primarily a Dunlop Super Brights user on most of my basses.
My Lakland P bass is my flatwound bass in my arsenal and I have been using La Bella Deep Talkin' flats in the 45-105 gauge.

These strings have black silks on both ends which I much prefer over the colorful silks that other manufacturers use.

Before I strung these on my bass, I was hoping for some of the qualities I liked about the Super Bright strings to be present on these flatwounds.
