String recommendations for 36" scale - SS

That 39 1/4" ball-end to taper for a 36" instrument is quite a requirement, are you sure about that? That's +3" from the scale length, what kind of hardware at the bridge/nut do you have?
Definitely look into multiscale string sets as pointed by @Lowend65 and @Katoosie, although the thin strings will probably not fit, and if they do, feel slightly tighter than they should with the increased tension due to the 36" thing (but you'll have that with standard "straight frets" string sets anyway).
Also, D'addario super long should fit up to 36 1/2" scale length basses with usual hardware (38" from ball-end to taper AFAIK).

I got the Ken Smith RML-6X Rock Master Lights (not shown on the bass in this photo) but am somewhat unimpressed. They are not terrible with regards to playability but not as responsive or expressive in tone as what I was used to expecting from Rotosounds 66 swing bass strings say on my 4 string basses. The tension feels good but they are not exactly bright.

I really wish I could get something comparable to the Rotosound strings in a 39.25 ball end to silk length, what most string sellers call a 40" set for long scale basses. Does anyone know if there is a Rotosound rep here around the TB site? Perhaps GHS has something comparable without going too too massive on the B gauge. I was thinking with the 36" scale I could play a lighter gauge with similar results in tension and responsiveness.

Maybe I would have better success trying the slap master medium lights. Anyone have any insight or experience with those by comparison? Or perhaps GHS would have a set that could match what the Rotosounds do in a medium light stainless round wound set.

Anyone know if there is a 30-125 set in the RML-6X Ken Smiths?

Maybe I could order a one off in the Smith strings in a 125 like from the slap master lights? Or something from GHS that would match, set-wise or single B wise.

Three Rock Master SS roundwound "extra long" 6-string sets offered by Ken Smith:

30-40-60-80-100-120 (RML-6X)
30-45-65-80-100-125 (RMML-6X)
30-45-65-85-105-130 (RMM -6X)

Are you talking about wanting to try 30-40-60-80-100-125? Considering we're talking about a 36"-scale bass, the 120B might work well enough. I once tried the GHS Boomer 120B on my 34"-scale Yamaha and it worked better than anything heavier.

And no, GHS does not offer anything comparable in Super Steels.

I already have the Rock Master lights 30-120 and I am underwhelmed with them so I expect I would be just as underwhelmed going up in gauge to 125.... Couldn't find anything long enough from GHS despite that they make Ken Smith's and Carl Thompson strings for 36" scale instruments.... Right?

Has anyone tried SIT strings or does anyone know who makes them?
Thinking of trying their
SIT Strings Electric Bass Stainless Steel Foundations 6-String, .030 - .125, FS30125L though I don't know the ball to silk lengths.

As an OEM manufacture for other brands, GHS makes their strings to THEIR specs. The longest GHS makes under their own brand is 38" in winding length.

SIT has their own string-winding factory in Akron, OH. SIT "long scale" = 37.25" ball to taper, "extra long" = 38" ball to taper.

EDIT: SIT Foundations FS30125L only comes in "long scale" with 37.25" winding length.
