If I turn on the tweeters in my cabinets or bring in enough treble I get a loud clacking sound when I press the string down to the fret. The only way I've found to get rid of it is to take out a lot of the treble and turn the tweeters off. Any suggestions as to how to get more treble without hearing the string hit the fret?

This is the BG side. However, his question is more appropriate for Hardware, setup, and repair forum.
I find this site difficult to navigate, to find answers and even pages I've been on before. For instance, I posted this question yesterday and it took me about 10 -15 minutes to find it again. Even though I put it in the search box, this page did not come up. I always have to just keep clicking on stuff that sounds even remotely like what I'm looking for and sometimes that doesn't even work. I find it easier to just Google what I'm looking for and then looking for the Talkbass link to it. It's much easier than searching all over this site to find something.
I had no idea this page was just for stand up bass and I still don't see anything that says For Stand Up Players Only.

Add relief in the neck. Use higher tension strings. Lighten your touch and check your striking angle. Play closer to the bridge. Turn off tweeters and/or eq out highs.
In a nutshell - you most likely need/should have your bass professionally setup for your strings and touch.

Turn off that tweeter. I've never used the tweeter in a bass cabinet. Especially a 2, 4 or 8 10" speaker cabinet. Plenty of high end without the tweeter.
A little bit of fret noise is inherent with a fretted bass. And, a very good setup along with strings to match your playing style will help as well.
But, IME, it is mostly your fingering technique that causes that predominant metallic click when you stop the strings. You can minimize it with the right approach to fingering.
Think in terms of the least amount of movement needed to be effective. You should lift your fingers from strings the minimal amount needed to allow the strings to resonate and to move your fingers freely.
Stop the string with the minimal effort needed. (Make sure your volume settings are load enough for proper technique. Don't beat your bass to death!!!
Experiment with the angles of your fingers and how you stop (Fret) the strings. Also, experiment with fretting the notes as closely behind the fret as you can without muting the resonance of the string.
It's all about feel. You just have to find it. Work on your fingering.
