String type mystery

Clear up what? An idea that would've been implemented - if at all - in the 80s, nearly 30yr prior to me even working at a string company...?!

To the OP, if you think this through logically, you gotta see that it would be impossible. A square string would have edges on it that, when you're playing the instrument and sliding up/down the neck, would be akin to drawing your fingers across razor blades.

And that's if you installed them correctly. As many have mentioned, the chances of twisting a square string are huge, making that whole "rip up your fingers" thing even more guaranteed.

I’ve thought about how ridiculous it sounds, but I swear it’s true. I guess it’s possible I’ve “misremembered” as someone else suggested. But if that’s the case I’ve misremembered since way back then. It’s not a new memory or something that I just “remembered”. The fact that no one remembers them existing makes me feel less certain though. Someone said they remember them, even specific brand names, but I’m not sure if that was sarcasm or not.
