Stringray Special audible buzz

Ernie Ball said if I feel comfortable to check this, otherwise they’ll take care of it. Interesting to note EB will only pay one way freight, but my dealer Jason at Fret Nation has offered to pick up the return freight if this doesn’t correct the problem. Note there is no mention of shielding, yet…

1) Inspect the jack orientation to ensure that none of the terminals are touching, requires removing the 4 jack plate set screws and gently pulling the jack out
2) Inspect the jack terminals from inside the control cavity location; remove the 9 control plate set screws to ensure that that there is space between the terminal facing the control assembly

This seems to have fixed my issue. I’ll likely shield it later if I have more problems. Thanks all.

Good ending on this one

I have learned recently price and reputation don't always guarantee no problems Shipping or otherwise

in 2019 bought Fender Ultra Precision when it arrived one side of split coil the pole pieces were down inside pickup cover [shipping] just had re-snap to cover

Then about 1.5 years later had same problem as yours when investigating noticed 1 pole piece for G side had raised up and separated from copper shielding on bottom of pickup; Got new under warranty pickup installed

My Stingray Special came with severe Backbow and had to make major trussrod adjustment it took 35 days for neck to finally settle to hold my setup and play clean; for most that time 18/19 fret on G would ring after releasing finger on fret or choke out all other frets were clean and Bass sounded great, Build quality and my prefered finish were outstanding[why I was persistent]

frets were all level no ski jump [had 45 day return and it came close:)]

With my Mesa WD 800 had to change preamp tube a couple months in but that can be expected somewhat and Mesa has limited control of

Yeah tell me about it on price not correlating to quality these days. Sent back three American made Fenders before getting one that didn’t have a defect. Warped pick guard, bad truss rod, and paint contamination on the first three should’ve never made it past QC

Just a quick update for anybody that may be interested. The buzzing noise came back today despite ensuring the input jack was aligned properly. After talking with Jason @ Fret Nation, he spoke with Ernie Ball and the idea is to send it to them before I shield it. I’m not opposed and will be curious what they find. Will report back!

Why don't they shield it while they have it?
