Strings and Humidity

Thank you for this suggestion. Is there a particular La Bella product that you suggest? Or is there a website that lists and characterizes the different strings? The TB forums have comments on particular strings but I have not seen an overall comparison.

I did find the La Bella bass string guide. It has relative comparisons. I need to listen to a demo of at least one La Bella string type to appreciate what the La Bella descriptions play as. There are several on TB, just need to listen when I will not wake up the family.

I've had that where decent strings go off quickly at the gig. I deal with the gig and swap syrings at next opportunity.

This is an update to last year's post on this topic. Played the same outdoor venue yesterday. Started at 7:00 AM with 100% humidity that eventually became outright rain. As before, the strings became very sticky to touch. With effort I was able to do slides. Was using GHS Pressurewound M7200-5 strings this year, as suggested by michael_t. Better than last year but still sticky.

Noticed the guitar player using a fingerboard spray. Perhaps GHS Fast Fret as suggested by trothwell. This is an easy thing to try, though I am not sure when another gig will occur under similar weather conditions. In the mean time I will ask him what spray he used and hot it changed the feel of his fretboard. If he found a spray unhelpful, then tapewound strings are an option.

The guitar player did notice improvement after using a fingerboard spray. I will try this before considering new strings. The weather is still quite humid in the mornings so no difficulty reproducing the adverse environment.
