Strings for 35" and string through body

Recently, I've bought two basses that are STB and 35" (both Laklands, 55-02 and JO5) and I'm looking for a set of strings that would work on them. I've read things about (regular long scale) DRs. Would they be the only ones that would fit, except for extra long scale strings?

If you want to be absolutely sure of what would and wouldn't fit, mark the currently-installed lowest string on each bass, at the nut and the tuning post, with a sharpie; remove it; straighten it and measure.

^^^This. I string my Lakland 55-02 thru-body with Ken Smith #AA-RMM-5X "Extra-Long" stainless steel roundwounds

But for a totally different sound, LaBella #760N5-EXL "Extra-Long" nylon tapewound strings should fit too

Don't Lakland bridges have top-load option?

They do! But I have the completely irrational and psychological idea that STB makes for a tighter sound.

D’addario strings can be ordered in extra-long scale.

My Lull has a B string through-the-body only. And yeah, I use that option.

So I order the D’addario Pro Steels 4-string regular long-scale sets and super-long B string singles.

Thru-body vs. top-load... Based on my experience, there is no discernible difference in tonal quality in real-life applications. It's not worth the hassle of having to look for "extra long" strings. Most "long scale" would be fine for top-loading on 35" scale.

That being said, Ken Smith (made by GHS) is a good option for 38" winding length, as already mentioned above, if you insist on thru-body.
