Strings for Lakland Decade?

I recently traded for a Lakland Skyline Decade. I've been playing it quite a bit trying to see if we are right for each other. I've never had a mudbucker before and it seems like it is a little harder to dial in a tone that I like. Turn up the neck pickup too much and it's too muddy, turn up the bridge too much and it's too honky. I was wondering if Decade owners could make some suggestions about strings that have worked for them or that sound particularly good on Decades. Anybody tried Chromes on theirs or Ken Smith Compressors? Give me some suggestions.

Decades come strung with Lakland Stainless, which a re made by GHS. I found stainless to be too zingy on my 55-94, but they may be what you want for the Decade if you find it muddy. For flats, I'd recommend Sadowskys -- my new favorite.

As nice as the bass is I'm guessing that these are the original strings on it. I was just soliciting opinions about what strings people already like on their Decades.

of note: is this a passive Decade? does it have the single coils or the 'buckers?
my passive SC Decade has no problem with being too muddy, and has just enough honk to help me cut through.

Mine has passive humbuckers. It is not bad muddy but it just seems to be a very fine balance of adjustments between the two pickups and the tone knob to find a tone I like. I'm used to a PJ where I adjust the bridge pickup to color the tone. This one I seem to have to adjust the neck pickup to do the same. I just wanted to maybe try another set of strings before I decide if I am in love with it or not. Looking for the magic string I guess.
