Double Bass Strings for Omni Bass

Hello, everyone

My question is simple: can I use standard bass strings on the Omni Bass? I was Thinking about getting the D'Addario XL Chrome ECB81M. Are they an adequate substitute for the NS710?

Asking if bass guitar strings work makes more sense in the bass guitar forums than the double bass forums.

Most long scale bass guitar strings should fit on the on the Omnibass. However, make sure there is one inch or less of silk winding on the ball end or it may extend up into the playable string path. Sound-wise, most of them will sound pretty electric bass guitar-ish. I have tried quite a few different strings on the Omni, and the ghs Precision flatwounds are the best I found so far.

Yes, I read that. I was asking because of the 4-string sets, there are the 3025, the M3050 and the 3050.

It's designed to take regular Bass Guitar strings but there are also those Omni Bass Strings which are Flatwound Bass Guitar strings designed essentially like Helicore Bass Strings.

With a solid steel core or a twisted spiral core?

It's a Stranded Steel Core (Helicore is Stranded Steel Core) so the tension is lower which I think would make them great for Acoustic Bass Guitars that have worn out tops.
