Strings that are "well known" for having low tension

Thanks Dude. Question is; Do I wanna give the DR's another "go 'round? I was never too impressed with their tone as I recall; but, different times, different Basses nowadays, more knowledgeable on how to properly EQ; Who knows, maybe I'll give'em another try; I think I actually still have a/that set from a while ago, saves me about $25-30.:) Thanks Dude.

No worries. I switched to DR Sunbeams last year and honestly love them. Soft touch, smooth finish, and rich tone down low, with crystal clear highs. I am a fan.

The flexibility you feel is affected by tension (the force needed to bring the string to pitch) and string construction.

Round core (some DR) strings tend to be more flexible than hex core.
Round wound tend to be more flexible than flat wound.
Or find ways to reduce tension such a down-tuning.

I believe the hardest things to o get in alignment is the number of gigs per month/season.
Secondly is the value of the band.

Someone typically needs more or less gigs, and clown thinks the band is the second coming of the Beatles.

A very successful hobby band I knew only gigged in July and August.always brought spouses or equivalents. Most any practices outside of those months were more jam/party than serious practice. I assume just before the season started they had couple of serious practices.

I also knew a wedding band that had a strict limit on the number of gigs per month. As strict as it was, the rule would get violated for enough coin.

Are you sure you posted this in the right thread?

You said you tried DR Lo-Riders. Those are DR's stiffer strings. The Sunbeams are the flexy ones and apparently you haven't tried them.

WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY?!! No, I didn't mean for it to come out that way, my apologies if you guys thought I was "yelling"; I copied and pasted the "Strings FAQ and Rules" part, then when I started writing/typing the rest, it came out with bold letters for some reason, totally unintentional. SORRY! :D
Next time you paste something that has a formatting (size, font) you don't want, you can undo (ctrl+z) and either
- paste it somewhere intermediate (notepad, or even the address bar of the browser), then copy it again and paste it in the reply field; or
- formatless paste (ctrl+shift+p).
Either way, you'll end up with just the text, with default font and size, no carryovers from the source. :)

One more nod for DR Sunbeams and the softness they seem to bring to the recipe.

I've used them for several years to the point that they've really become my reference string or maybe my "personal normal". Whenever I sample something else of the same gauge in nickel rounds (45-105), they're always more firm than I prefer, a little too rough feeling, or a combo of both.

I'm also really not much of a fan of other DR strings. They're okay, but the Sunbeams are my home-sweet-home.

I love DR sunbeams and ageee they’re very flexible. Not too bright, polite and scooped tone.

DR pure blues, or GHS round core boomers (if ya wanna avoid DR)… both have a little more mid punch, not super bright and both definitely fall on the flexible side of the spectrum
