Strings

Could someone recommend me two sets of strings.

One set for a 4 string MTD Kingston Heir
One set for a Warwick Corvette $$

I can't really try a bunch of strings out to see which is the best. (too expensive)
I play anything from punk to funk.

I like bright sounding strings on my MTD (all maple neck and FB)
and more earthy ones for my Warwick (for obvious reasons)

I like to dig in quite alot with my right hand for a Geddy-esque tone.

I would also, if possible provide me a UK distributor for the strings you recommend.

Regards,
Darragh

I highly recommend MTD strings for your MTD. They are bright and perfectly suited to the tonal quirks of the instrument. I have an MTD Artist 5er (basically the same as your Heir, but with only the bridge pickup, and it's slightly farther from the bridge on mine than it is on yours), and they're great. I also like DR Black Beauties (coated strings) for a less metallic/bright sound.

Couldn't help ya as far as the Warwick; I've never been a fan of them. Anybody else want to chip in?

I've pretty much always used D'Addario nickel XL's or DR Sunbeams (also nickel) and they worked fine for me when I had a Corvette a few years back. In general, I like strings that are a little older and not entirely bright and metallic, but I'm not big on flats. Sorry - no input in terms of distributors.
