Stripped back sound for acoustic gig - help!

Sure! I'd just bring your usual bass, small amp and cab. That's why I suggest yer usual bass plus an amp. No need to change things up, just be mindful of your volume and playing style.

Nice sound, I don;'t have an acoustic bass though./ I have a musicman stingray, not the bass you'd think of for acoustic sets.

I use my EBMM Sterlings on my acoustic gigs quite regularly. As soon as you plug in, which bass you are using as little overall effect other than visually. Most people (all?) in the audience will not even notice/care.

For acoustic gigs I use my Mesa D800 with a Schroeder Mini 8L at a balanced volume setting. Or no cab, and just run the Mesa direct. This way I get the tone I love, no 20w practice amp or boutique amp needed.

I've played bass in an acoustic combo setup before but truth be told, I like yanking out my OOO-12 fret and just playing basic accompanying guitar. Sounds more traditional, if you will.

One day I'll really work my courage up and bring my violin. I'll record with it, no problem as I work out parts beforehand, but am not quite ready to go live improv with it yet.

I set the HPF at 160Hz on acoustic guitar. Works great, cleans up bottom end.

This allows bass to HPF btw 40-80Hz (depending on room) and sound fat but not boomy. My Fdeck or Fishman Plat Pro work very nicely for this.
