That was the essence of cool! JPJ has always been my fav. I have a G&L, & a Spector, but am building up a jazz just because of JPJ. I love the way they brought me to the blues without me even being aware of it. I was just a drunk high school kid who love to listen to Led Zep. I only wish I could have seen them live.

Apparently they were no strangers to Washington state. I remember reading 'Hammer of the Gods' many years back, and one of the many tales Richard Cole relayed in it was how the band almost lost their lives in a station wagon, in a blizzard, on Snoqualmie Pass. Of course, then there's also the legend of the Red Snapper incident at Seattle's Edgewater...

I've stayed at the Edgewater twice because of all the "history" the place has. Very cool looking out at the water. I didn't tell the wife about any of the Led Zep stories from Hammer of the Gods.

Zep were not "huge" in 1969. They were a start-up, Zep I was decently received but the band were still paying their dues, probably touring promoting Zep II around the time this was filmed. I was lucky enough to see them at Chicago's Kinetic Playground in 1969, and got to experience their power in a non-stadium setting. A couple of years later (1971, after Zep IV hit) they became the stars that everyone today remembers.

I was discussing the exact same thing with my keyboardist. Early Led Zeppelin had somekind of strange energy to it that I haven't seen anywhere else. The Royal Albert Hall concert, when Bonzo starts with "We're Gonna Groove", you're just instantly blown away. "Holy ****..." is what I still think whenever I watch that live. The sound is really raw, but so powerful.
