Studio One, my consensus pretty good, what about you all?

I was a cubase user, but after regular license issues I needed to switch to another DAW. I had too many projects on deadlines and couldn't wait for licensing support. So I tried Studio one, and got it it is great for recording. Not a ton of stock plug ins but I use fl mobile and desktop for rap beats. But it's a nightmare for recording the only recording fl is usable for is quick one take recordings. Like a sample in a beat. So I didn't need a DAW for plugins I needed a recording DAW and Studio one ended up working out great.

Anyone looking to record Studio one is a great easy to use option. Impact the sampler does have a good acoustic drum setting (Balkan lines). I recorded a hardcore punk demo with it. Ampire is pretty decent being a stock amp sim. What are other folks thoughts on Studio one?

I and the studio I work for are fully invested in Studio One. I was a Logic user and went to work at this studio last summer. Once I learned Studio One, I stopped using Logic and mirrored my MacBook with the studio’s PC. Nothing wrong with Logic, but it makes life much more simple to be set up like the studio. We do a lot of live band tracking, just a little MIDI and virtual instruments stuff. S1 works great in all situations. I use a lot of Native Instrument stuff and plug-ins from a few places, although the native plug-ins in Studio One work very well.

I've been using Studio One for about five years now. No complaints at all. I think most DAWs do approximately the same thing, but in different ways, and the way Studio One works meshes well with my expectations.

Studio One is great. I still prefer Logic, based entirely on having more experience with it, but Studio One does a few things that I wish Logic would by default. I’m sure the opposite is also true. Definitely a great DAW. Then again, these days they’re ALL great.

As I stated above, I'm a Studio One guy, but I do sessions at a Logic house from time to time.

I did a session today and the engineer/producer let me choose my own comps. It was pretty cool working with Logic again. But tonight, transferring some mixes tonight, I realized I REALLY do like Studio One.

I have migrated to StudioOne though I still use Logic from time to time. v5.2 has some major additions/improvements from 4.x/5.0 and the folks at PreSonus are doing a great job with tutorials etc. I became a Sphere member back in August and it is well worth the $$ for me and my guitar player. YMMV

Another ex-Cubase user because of the licence issues mentioned, went over to Studio One Artist 3.

I've been using S1 for four-five years. I still use it, but the same things that apply to Cubase or Logic or most other things are also there. I mean mostly the fact that stupid and annoying bugs don't get fixed for years. it's been three years since I reported a bug that prevents to create a simple macro of 'create a new track and arm it' to work and no progress on it, for example. in v5 there're massive regressions that break PDC on buses (i.e. introduce delay to your tracks), those are not fixed yet, albeit were reported by many users for the past year.

oh, yeah, one personal thing that kills me is inconsistency of the UX on Windows and Mac. on Mac pinch-to-zoom zooms horizontally, shift+pinch vertically, on PC it's vice versa. support just said 'gtfo, we don't understand what you want'.

to sum it up, it's hard to beat Cubase support in unresponsiveness. but Studio One is approaching them more and more. I've reported three bugs in 2021 and each time I spent lots of time to convince the support it's a bug and should be filed. none of them are fixed or planned to be fixed as I know. heck, my bug reports from 2017 are not fixed in latest S1 either. and if you ask the support on like 'can I do this in S1', they'll answer 'it's not our business to tell you' and it's been like this for years as well.
