I looked it up. I have a version of this tune which is on a GREAT (imo) record by Peter Bernstein called Stranger In Paradise with Brad Mehldau, Larry Grenadier, and Bill Stewart.

I don't think this is silly at all. As many times as I've played Polka Dots and Moonbeams, I just realized I either never heard a vocal version or didn't pay attention to the lyrics. I had recently put it off as an overplayed and uninteresting ballad, but now these lyrics shed a new light on it for me.

I need to learn more lyrics.

These are the lyrics to the last A section, which Ed was unsure of. So the whole section is,

The flaming moon reminds me of
the night of love that we once knew.
Each tiny star is but a prayer
that when it's fall again
love will call again
and you'll be
beside me
to make my autumn dreams come true.

It's in The Standards Real Book (Chuck Sher).

YOUR STREAU - yeah, that falls under the "No Vocalese" clause.

TYBALD - thanks, that whole last verse has been a bear to pull offa Cassandra's recording. She may have had a Sarah Vaughn moment (Thanks for the memories...) and "created" the "whispering that you'll be returning when...". Or I just may be having a Jazzheimer's Moment (Where are my memories..)

The bridge or middle part to "I'm Old Fashioned"

I'm old fashioned I love the moonlight, I love the old fashioned things. The sound of rain upon my window pane, the starry song that April sings.

I'm old fashioned, but I don't mind it. That's how I want to be, as long as you'll agree to stay old fashioned with me.!!!!!!!!!

If this is another Jon Lyric, I don't consider this stuff STANDARD. I love them, but I haven't worked with alot of bands that do all the Jon lyrics....So I don't worry about knowing them. I worked with Eddie Jefferson on and off for years and I don't remember ALL his lyrics.
