Whoof! I have to disagree on that. I've played with Jon Hendricks some, and I consider it some of the greatest musical and personal experience of my life. He was the opposite of unfunny, in my opinion. He has more great stories than anyone I've ever worked with. He also is in better shape than most guys half his age, and the chicks sure seem to still dig him.
'Course, I like Peter Schickele, too.
Nothing yet....I need a little time on Who cares....I use to play it with Anita O'Day (Dropping names again Z....) but not alot of people play this tune and yeah it is a decent tune particularly at a fast tempo.T-Bal said:

Thank you Paul for explaining my poor punctuation! I guess you could have read my original reply as "Who Cares?" ( not the answer to the question, but rather a flipant response...which it of course was not.)
If I can drop a name......I had the privledge in 2000 and 2003 to fill in for Paul Langosch in Tony Bennett's quartet for about a month each time and got to hear the master sing "Who Cares" (up-tempo) each night.

Hi again, Paul. Ralph was there in 2000. In 2003 it was Lee Musiker. Two excellant musicians and two very different approaches.
It was a great experience. Because the quartet has played together for so long, the only charts that exist are for the gigs with strings and/or bigband. The small group arrangements are all memorized and are always evolving in small ways. They sent me CDrs of recent performances both times and had me write out my own leadsheets. There are 24 or so tunes in the show PLUS you have to be ready to play all of the hits he has had in the past 50 years, that are no longer in the show, at the drop of a hat.It was an amazing time. They travel with their own soundman, Tom Young, so the sound on stage whether in a hockey rink, theatre or a small room in a casino is always the same. There is one bass solo in the show if he uses 'Mellotone for the encore and a spot at the beggining of Foggy Day where its just Bass and Voice.
