Double Bass STUMP PULL WARMBATON

Paul WornButtons said:
And when I hear you call so softly to me, I don't hear a call at all I hear a rhapsody
and when your sparkling eyes are smiling so softly at me, then soft through the star lit skies, I H A R
Bridge: My days are so blue when you are away my heart longs for you, so won't you stay?
My darling hold me tight and whisper to me
Then soft through a starry night
I H A R

Paul, have you talked to a Doctor about that cough? :)

Man, i'm SO sorry. I can't remember exactly how long it's been since you've joined us here on TBDB, but i've ever so slowly been watching the change in your personality and the change is pretty much complete....Wornbuttons?
I'm so sorry for you and yours.

Where can I get help? Is there a treatment center somewhere that deals with TalkBass personality syndrome? :)

To be sung with a Japanese accent!!!
Poor Butterfly 'neath the blossoms waiting
" " for she loved him so.
The moments passed into hours, the hrs passed into years
and as she smiles through her tears, she murmers low....
The moon and I know that he be faitful (this sounds more Ebonic than Japanese)
I'm sure that he come to me bye and bye (Native American Indian accent)
But if he don't come back,(just plain bad grammar)
Then I never sigh or cry, I just must die...Poor Butterfly.

Hey Ed did you ever play Phil Woods changes on this? In the original key, Ab, he starts the changes a half step up..B-7 to E7 two beats a piece, then back to the regular Bb-7 to Eb 7 two more beats each.......Very COOL!
Also, I can only remember one jazz vocal of this tune, and that was Sarah...you know any others?

Naw, Sarah's the only vocal version I've heard (way slow ballad), piano player on the Tuesday night things likes this tune alot and calls at at a medium/medium up tempo. I haven't played the Woods changes, but I'll spring'em on him next time we play it.

I wanted to learn the melody and having the lyrics helps...

I make a date for golf, you can bet it's gonna rain
I try to throw a party and the guy upstairs complains
I guess i'll go through life just catching colds and missing trains
Everything happens to me.
I haven't missed a thing, i've had the measles and the mumps
I try to play an ace and my patner always trumps
I guess i'm just a fool who never looks before he jumps
E H T M
At first I thiought that you would break this jinx for me
That love would turn the trick (hooker talk) to end despair
but I can't fool this head that thinks for me (something missing here)
I've mortgaged all my castles in the air.
I've telegraphaphed and phoned, sent an air mail special (good name for a tune) too
Your answer was goodbye and there was even postage due
I fell in love just once and then it had to be with you.....Everything happens to me. :hyper:

I have to stop this madness...
This will be my shining hour calm and happy and bright
in my dreams your face will flower, thru the darkness of the night.
Like the lights of home before me, or an angel watching o'er me.
T W B M S H Til i'm with you again..........
