Double Bass STUMP PULL WARMBATON

Well, I know it because I had to listen to the cruise director sing it every week on a ship gig; I was the band leader. His delivery was kinda like Dennis Day. Thank God for Scotch whiskey and showgirls.
I had this trio a few years ago with Guitarist Dale Bruning and tenor saxist, and Denver legend Ron Washington who had a huge, beautiful vibrato/timbre similar to my very favorite tenorist Harold Land. Ron did Tea For Two as a ballad
He would do the verse rubato with the guitar, and then those three pick-up notes into a very slow ballad....very effective!

When I was about 19 or 20 I went into Ball Music (up at Lakeside in Denver) and bought the sheet music to Tea for Two because I liked the way Tony Mottola did it. When I worked through it I was surprised to find out that it was originally a ballad. Back in those days I had the memory of an autistic savant but now I have the memory of of Rainman with Alzheimer's. Nonetheless I will give it a go.
I'm discontented with homes that are rented so I have invented my own.
Darling this place is a lover's oasis where life's weary chase is unknown.
Far from the cry of the city, where flowers pretty, fill the air.
At this point I must confess that I am stumped and have had to resort to the Internet to find the last phrase of the verse. Strangely, I find that "Tea for Two" is not universally represented in these online databases. Could it be that the younger generation has somehow turned its back on this classic? I found something called Tool Disgustipated lyrics, and also a Led Zeppelin (how does it fly if made from lead?) song called "Tea for One". Somehow, I survived Rabid Squirrels, (none of this is made up, these are all names I encountered while searching) and Cherry Poppin' Daddies managing to find this.
Cozy to hide in, to live side by side in, don't let it abide in my dream.
