Stupid Groupies.

I may have said to her.. Maybe you should check your tampon. because you seem to be on the rag today...:D or maybe commented about her bad breath or cellulite/ stretch marks...:smug:

So I was in a bar the other day after playing a gig. Me and a couple of my band mates walked up to this group of girls who seemed pretty into the show and started chatting them up. One of them looks up at me and gets all snobbish "aren't you the bass player" to which I replyed "yeah." and continuing the attitude she retorts " don't you have stuff to load up. I mean don't you have to make yourself useful somehow".

Don't you just hate when this happens.

if you really want to get chicks try playing upright bass at a few shows. for some reason chicks LOVE the thing... I had a chick standing five feet from me (after noticing I was married) yell "**** he's married!" like i said play upright bass if you want chicks...

I never had a woman insult me as yet, but if it happens (someday I expect it will, I've already been insulted by a drunk guy), I've got a comeback prepared. "Outside, countess. As long as they've got sidewalks, you've got a job". Line stolen from a movie so old nobody here will know it. Worst thing is I never insult anyone except my bandleader, and we've known each other for 30 years.

Here, I'll give you this one to use for such occasions...

"Awwwwww, honey! You know, some B6 and a Midol will fix you riiiiight up. Bless your heart."

Skanks. These girls probably also judge men by their vehicles and how many apps their cell has.

Cherie

I find as a bass player I get more attention, I get a lot of "ooo all bass players are hot" (I'm not hot, I'm pale, blonde and skinny). I find the issue is actually that I do have stuff to do like load gear, being the bass player, I have a large amp and a big flight case to deal with, then I also often help with the PA (being a bass player I understand it better than singers). The singers (particularly female ones) tend to just stand around not knowing what to do to help, and when they try they get in the way.

Also with regards to misogyny, it is quite funny if you're taking the piss, i.e. using it ironicly. Just like casual racism and picking up on physical features and exploiting them as LIGHT HEARTED humor, as long as its amongst friends. For example, I live in wales but was born in england, my girl friend has pakistani parents, but was born and bread in wales, I will make fun of her for being muslim or pakistani, and she will make fun of me for being pale (using the phrase cracker boy) and will tell me to go back to my own country (england). We both love eachother and neither of us is offended by the comments the other makes, it is all in jest and people who think that you can't take anything you want as ammo for jest has clearly not realised that taking the piss and hatred or superiority are very different things.

I really don't get the whole "bass players are dissed" thing, by anyone.

Every musician I know appreciates what I do as a bass player. Every non-musician I've talked with appreciates what I do in the band. I've never, ever had a problem with women being into me playing bass.

Perhaps it's the person playing the bass and not the bass itself? Even if it was a reference to a cartoon, I really don't get the stereotype. Maybe some bass players fit the stereotype.

That being said, how funny is Metalocalypse?

It's pretty good. But you have to stick with it for a few episodes in order to really get the humor and appreciate the characters. It helps if you're into metal but I don't think one would have to be a metal fan to get the joke.

If you get the chance, begin with the earliest episodes and go from there. Otherwise it can be kind of confusing. But I really like that show.

slap dat ho!

just kidding but that sucks seriously wow.

Man...Im great at dissin' these type of folks and usually check them right away. If I was the op I would have fired back something like, "Dont you have anything better to do than hang out getting drunk in a bar like a whore? (wouldnt really mean it, but she'd feel it) Or even better is "Arent you the DUG?" (Designated Ugly Girl) so your friends look better? I treat everyone with respect...the first time, and will dish out what I get ten fold! Good or bad. Hate those type of people!

I'm nice to everyone unless they prove they don't deserve it.

Just laugh and ask her how many instruments she plays. You know the answer's "zero" because if she did, she wouldn't have that attitude. When she actually says "zero," laugh again and say "Yeah, I know!"

Yup...
