as i recall, they had less than kind things to say about the scorpions as a band.

I've watched "This is Spinal Tap" only recently & I don't recall them even mentioning the Scorpions, or even a fake band that seemed to be the Scorpions.
AFAIK, all bands & artists mentioned in the film are fake, even though many situations are taken directly from real bands.

If you mean they were directly spoofing the Scorpions throughout the film, I don't' think so.
Rob Reiner has said it's an amalgamation of many bands.

it was some bit where they dismissed the actual band the scorpions because the scorpions were german and not english and therefore not worthy of consideration as musical competitors. all in good fun, etc. however, i can find no mention of such a scene on the internet and my memory is poor so i probably made it all up.

edit: i finally remembered. it is not in the movie. it was in a spinal tap book with faux interviews and such. if i remember i will post it laterz. i could be completely wrong again though.
