Hi

Any of you guys in the UK tried out the Sue Ryder bass, RP-1?

I want a cheap bass to keep in the lab at work, just to keep the fingers working, not overly bothered what it sounds like via an amp.

May just have headphone amp or Tascam GB-10.

The price is rigth £59.99

Looks pretty decent for the money to me - through body stringing particularly unusual at this price point. If you don't like the sound then there are a plethora of P pickups out there.

I think its amazing that Sue Ryder are doing this. Even in my small hometown (Dunblane to all you Scotland/Tennis/Disaster fans) has a few in the window. Who knows who makes it. Its a shame they have to gouge an R in the pickguard, but the only other place I've seen that done is the SX Gypsy Rose stuff, which makes me think it *might* come from the same factory.

Popped out at lunch time to the nearest Sue Ryder that had a Bass.
They had a Royal Navy blue transparent with a rose wood neck.

It buzzed like a hornets nest, but other wise is fine.

After a tune and half a turn on the truss its starting to sound pretty good, some more tweaks needed though.

The pure white scratch plate is a bit too stark for this colour will try and replace it with an off white version, will probably have to change/colour the picks to blend in though.

Tried it through the TASCAM GB-10 , sounds pretty good.

For the price its good enough for practicing with in the lab and learning about setups etc.
