An electric bass with frets. thre rest is up to your technique, and pedals. ..... Some configuration of DiMarzio ultra-mega output pickups cant hurt either

Would you say to a motown bassist "Whatever you feel comfortable playing .... with a tortoiseshell pickgaurd"? Each genre and subgenre has specific requirements and demands upon players and their gear. It's not all image and color. I don't care what color my instrument is and how many barbs and spikes it has. I want it to SOUND good. I hate the way BC. Rich looks. Please keep that in mind when and if you post, thanks.

Threads like this one is why Metal is not taken seriously here. Since when do Metal players care about the opinions of others. I've been away from music for too long...
Yet you get mad when someone suggests Black, or a BC richI don't care what color my instrument is and how many barbs and spikes it has..

I was asked not to continue playing with a Grindcore band b/c I "didn't look good on stage"... I guess my Olympic/Tort/Maple Am. P Bass wasn't "metal" enough. Apparently grindcore is the new glam.
I hate that, albeit don't be wearing a polo and puma shoes, with slicked back hair and designer jeans when your playing a gig like that.
I know but you're not supposed to care what other s think when you play metal, but unfortunately your bands success rides on what other people think.
live and learn. Here are some pix from two of the shows I played with the "grindcore" band...you tell me:

I guess I see the problem now... :scowl:bass was too white, and I was too ginger...live and learn.
but instead MY bass (amp, efx), as being able to work with almost any genre. you look like the cool guy in the band, the one id drink beer with and probably has a cool sense of humor. Kinda like the bassist from Lamb of God.
I dont look like anything special in my thrash band
