Suggestion for selling effects

I was scrolling through the effects pedals, looking for my next impulse buy, when it occurred to me, and not for the first time, that I'd probably have even more pedals if I knew what even half of the pedals that were for sale did.

If something looks particularly interesting, I'll look it up, but a lot of times the name of the pedal doesn't really tell what it does, and if you are not familiar with pedals, it's not always easy to figure out.

So I'd like to make the suggestion that even a one line blurb telling exactly what the pedal does would probably help it sell quicker.

Just my 2 cents.

If you read my original post you would see that I do look up a pedal if I think it is interesting. With the number of new pedals that come up for sale every day, it's not practical to look them all up.

That has actually been suggested a few times. Some people try to add the effect category it in the subject.

It's a perfectly good one. Like I said, it's been suggested before. I try to do it. It cannot hurt to bring this up every once in a while.

If you can find a manufacturer's marketing blurb or a Youtube demo you'll know a lot more than you will from a seller's brief description.

The whole point is that, if you are not an effects aficionado, you can scan the classifieds extremely quickly if the posters add a quick descriptor in the title (OD, Dist, Fuzz, Flanger, BitCrusher, Chorus, Multi, etc.)

I think you are just looking for an argument or fight here. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. You should just move on now.

Good idea, with so many to choose from it's no surprise that people new to effects get shell shocked by what they have to learn. I hope some people take your suggestion, I'm sure some won't.

But back to the people complaining, how long does it take to type (distortion) or (overdrive) or (pitch shifter)?

Not really. I interpreted what the OP was saying as, for instance, not knowing what a 'type' of pedal did, such as an envelope filter.

Personally I hate the For Sale posts that consist of 5 paragraphs blabbering about how great it is with the price hidden somewhere in the middle. Tell me what it is, how much you want, and give me some good pictures. I'll handle the rest.

This is good idea Comrade! After you spend so long in the effects forum you start to recognize stuff though and a picture tells 1000 words about a pedal.

I always thought a wiki-styled archive of effects pedals (and any other bass gear) that our users have reviewed here would be very helpful. I spend most of my google/TB searches trying to find specific reviews and comparisons.
