Suggestions for a Guitar-ish Bass Rig

I play a 5-string short-scale tuned in fifths (CGDAE) and I play a lot of chordal stuff that is rhythm-guitar-like. My whole thing is to play arrangements that combine a bass line and chordal riff. My unicorn would be finding an amp/preamp/pedal that can cop a modern R&B tone on the bass notes, and a slightly crunchy classic rock guitar tone on then chordal riffs.

I know there are pedals that emulate a bi-amp rig, and that might be the ticket. On my little Rumble Studio 40, the Super Bassman and Showman models get the closest to what I'm looking for, but I inevitably have to sacrifice a punchy clean bass note to get the crunch on the chords.

Any suggestions? I'm a close minded person who is willing to give any one-box solution (preferably that can be purchased new) a shot.

As a left field suggestion could you consider a midi / synth system. That could give you a capability of routing say bottom two strings or everything below note X to a radically different sound.

Hell of a compromise on everything else though.
