Suggestions for a Practice (Beater) Combo Amp or Speaker Cab

Option 1: A speaker cabinet that I can leave there, and I'd bring my MB amp head to play though.

Big old and heavy! Something nobody can carry alone (steal) without breaking his/ her back.

410s are out of fashion, you should easily find something!

Option 2: A combo unit loud enough for practicing with a full band playing the Classic Rock stuff

Old Peavey combos! Too cheap to steal.

Or old Dynachord BS412 combo! Too heavy to steal! (hard to find )

Personally I would go with the cab and bring a head that has enough punch.

Go to a music go round near you and try out some used equipment

I also use a Peavey 2X10 with a horn in my practice venue. Paid $100 for it. It is a boat anchor. If I ever stop rehearsing there, someone else is going to get it because I am probably going to leave it there.

I'm casting about to hear some ideas for something used/inexpensive that I can leave at a rehearsal space.

For a beater combo, I'd go with an old Peavey (as I recently actually did and am very pleased)...
For a cab, I'd look at a 4x10 or 2x15 that's "outdated" now. Lots of possibilities, from Peavey to Crate to Ampeg to SWR and back.

I not long ago stumbled on an old Trace Elliot GPSM7 250 in a pawn shop for $100. 250 watts of British bone crushing pure Trace tone in a 115 combo. It is my practice amp that I could honestly gig any club in town with.

Old gear might not be fashionable, but it is out there, cheap and much of sounds killer. The hunt is 90% of the fun for me!
