Suhr Basses Are Coming Back To Rocket!

Here's the first black Classic J Pro to arrive. I'm not sure what took this one so long, but it's here now!

The Winter NAMM show usually brings some price increases, and that is true of Suhr this year. The Classic J Pro is now $2999, and the Classic J Antique is now $3299.
I've got one of each color of the Classic J Pro listed on my website right now at the old prices ($2699). Get 'em while they're hot!

FWIW - the Oly white one was just ordered a few weeks ago, so it's probably 5-6 months from being delivered. I'll likely be adjusting that price up to $2999 if it gets here and nobody has reserved it by then.

I really need to get my act together and put up a review of mine, as it is beyond ridiculous how great a bass it is. It's a custom shop/boutique level instrument at a fraction of what it would cost from someone else.

These are the baddest passive J basses on the block. If you're in the market for such an axe, don't hesitate to check these out. Boutique level instruments at barely more than production line prices!
The "Pro" series instruments are all passive, but you can still get his preamp in a custom build. Let me know if you'd like to price out a set of specs!

Yep, and I'm pretty sure you can thank the man himself for that. John Suhr apparently does not like that look. Never mind that most of his customers will hate having to take the pickguard off to tweak the truss rod. LOL
It's pretty easy to get a pickguard from them after the fact that has the notch for truss rod access... but, yeah, it's a bit of extra $$ and it's a PITA.

The tone it is great and the back of the neck feels like velvet, a true heir of Fender. I guess mine has the "fixed" pickguard version.

All has been quiet on the Suhr bass front for quite some time. At the worst of the pandemic, they were quoting stuff 2 years out. Ordering anything from them felt like a hopeless endeavor, like I'd never actually receive the darn things.
Well, the ship has been righted for the most part. Special order guitars that we continued to order all along for customers are rolling through here slowly but surely once again. When that started to happen, I actually placed an order for 3 of the new Suhr Classic P model. I'm so excited about this bass! I placed my order for these three basses back in April 2022, so I'm hoping I see these basses arrive sometime between now and a year from now.
In the meantime, I finally got around to posting the items on my website in the "On Order" section. Here are some links to the three items along with some stock photo's that I grabbed from Suhr's site:

BTW - if you're ever up for trying this, I think I can make it happen. And at their "Classic" price (i.e. not as a "Custom", which in Suhr's world means more $$).
My Suhr guy was really into trying to get basses happening in a bigger way for them, so he was open to some flexibility with the specs. They present it as only these three colors choices with a RW board are available... but I think there's actually some wiggle room there that I intend to start exploiting in the near future. I think he mainly had color variations in mind, but I told him I'd want access to a Maple fretboard, too. He was open to that, so maybe he'd be open to unlined fretless Ebony?

I've been actually contemplating getting mine converted to a fretless, so this discussion is timely! Please feel free to ping them on a yes/no, and a lead time as well. I'm not sure I can last 2 years, but let's cross that discussion if/when it even matters. Please keep me posted!
I'm thinking about ordering a few Suhr custom basses. One of my favorite things that Suhr does is these "Drip" finishes, where they literally let different colors of paint drip down the body. It's perfectly smooth and covered in a gloss top coat when it's all done, so it's not textural at all. It just looks wicked cool.
They do these finishes in red, blue, green, purple, etc. They'll even do a custom drip finish if you tell them the starting colors.
Imagine a Classic J in this color scheme. Red Drip on Swamp Ash, Maple board, no pickguard or control plate, Hum-cancelling J pickups, 3-band active EQ. That should come in somewhere around $4K. Would that be of any interest to anyone?!?

What a delightful surprise! Suhr has shipped me the first of their P basses that I have on order.
The 3-Tone Sunburst / RW Classic P should be here in about a week. And it's coming with a price drop from $3549 to $3399!
