Suncoast BC-2XL Bass Preamp

I couldn't really find any reviews regarding this preamp except for some sound demos on YouTube:

Anybody on Talkbass own one or have anything good or bad to say about this preamp?

Suncoast are the best, the current small form-factor preamps are the ones I would recommend, the BC1 (based on stock Pearce BC1) and the BC1s (Sheehan Mod).

I use the Suncoast BC1 with the LM-1 limiter and I dont miss my old Pearce BC1 at all.

yeah, looks like the website isnt fully up to date,

The nano lab preamp has become the standard BC1, and the BC1s is the Sheehan mod version of the circuit.

the BC2XL does have an XLR out, which the others dont. some people dont use the limiter either.

I prefer the small versions because they're easier to fit "creatively" onto a crowded board ( I have my BC1 preamp on top and the limiter underneath my board)

the "Lead" mode on the BC2XL I think is the Sheehan mod, so depending on what you need, that unit could be more flexible for you.

did you stumble across them by chance? or were you looking for the Pearce BC1 style sounds?

I have the Suncoast B1p which is out of production. Fantastic clean channel and a screaming overdrive channel. Sounds amazing in front of a amp. Top quality. Can't say anymore about it. I assume all the other preamps are the same.

Their L5 Multi Filter is my secret weapon, great for adding some hair and harmonic content.

Suncoast is amazing. I haven’t played the BC2XL, but I used to have the F2P preamp and I only got rid of it because I really wanted a pre with a built-in XLR out. I still miss that thing.

Ive used the old Pearce pres for years. I really liked those rigs. It was a great pre and not just for Billy toan. It was good at a wide range of tones. I only have experience with this Suncoast and it’s pretty spot on for old Pearce tones. I can tell you this particular pedal works best for me straight into a power amp. Like the one Pearce.
