Sunday jam

I've never heard of an auditionee being asked to chip in for a band's expenses. That's red flag #1, & big red flag #2 depends on how 'jokingly' he suggested buying a different bass before he's even heard what yours is capable of ... #1 =tacky, & #2 =possibly control issues.

Still, if everything else sounds like you might make a good fit with them, you should pony up the abe lincoln & give it a shot.

I get wanting aces that fit what the real band uses, but think it was a joke. If it was a money paying gig, would pick up one that i

Should ask him if the bass is a prize for getting the gig.

Ok this is funny. Turns out the guy in charge of this is auditioning everything but lead guitar. My singer had to take two weeks off due to being sick and the singer for the band I was auditioning for was as well. They also are both named john. Well they are one in the same.

We both reached out to this guy when we thought our guitar player quit and the singer knew I was auditioning. He wasn't made but never mentioned it to me because he wanted to see my reaction.

We agreed that if we work out with this, we will just be in both bands and call it a day. The guitar player is hinting that it would be great if I bought a Hammer Explorer, because it is what the original band uses. This is before I audition and there is a set line up.
