Sunn Coliseum Bass question?

Can I safely run two 4 ohm (2 ohm load) cabs with this head? My main head is in the shop and we have an outdoor gig today so I need to pull out the big guns. I'm pretty sure I can, I just want to be sure. It doesn't say on the back and I can't find it online. thanks

I was never able to find a manual or anything for my Concert bass head. All it says near the outputs is that it's 200W. Strangely enough though, a lot of people seem to think it's a 2ohm head, but at the same time those same people always insist on never running lower than 4ohms. So I'm sticking with 4ohms just to play it safe and I'd say you should too.

The original early '70s Coliseum models (Bass, Lead, and 880, the ones with the really wide chassis) were all 320 watts RMS @ 2 ohms.

Don't know about the early/mid '80s Coliseum Bass 300, although I'm fairly sure it was 300 watts @ 2 ohms. But checked the recommended web site.

Yup. The old wide ones were 2 ohm units. I bought an Acoustic 370 and 301, new in 1972 or 3. I wanted the Sunn Coliseum, with the two folded 18's, but went for the Acoustic instead. Can't remember why really, but they were almost the same, in sound and power output as each other. Those were the cream of the crop when we were young. Can't say as I'd go back though. Like my new rig much better. Still they were tough. They're still out giging anyway.

Yup, Joe is right ... in '72 I was using a SUNN Colliseum head to push two 4 ohm Vega 18's in seperate cabs that I built in high school shop ... loud is an understatement ... but unfortunately I did not do my homework on the homebuilt cabs, and they had NO projection as I didnt build FH cabs but 2 front loaded 1-18's ... I would not use anything like that now a days either ... course I couldnt lift them even if I did ...
