What is the $$$ value of a clean and working Sunn Scepter amp?
I have a deal in the works but really can't afford to overpay right now.
I know this is relative but what ballpark should I be realistically be hitting for here?
Thank you very much!

Ebay completed listings is your best bet for recent sales on this kind of thing. There are two listed currently, one sold for $250, the other for $275 but one of those was missing power tubes and the other missing the power transformer.
Neither of those amps are a good barometer for market value, as neither is functional. Both are (were) pigs in a poke, broken with no guarantees or returns offered.
The last nice Sceptre I saw on eBay went for $480, and the tremolo was non functional on that one.
Over the last few years Ive seen healthy Sceptres as high as $650 and as low as $375, but the $375 was a while ago.
They are kind of rare, but the Sunn 100S (w/reverb & trem), the Sentura II, and the Solarus are essentially the same amp, Sunn changed the name based on the speaker configuration they came with.
i think our guitarist got his for like $550.. its sweet.
So these have solid state preamps?![]()
No, there are a 12AX7, 12AU7, and 6AN8 that you can't see in that pic, I took that picture when I had he preamp tubes pulled for testing. That particular Sceptre is SS rectified though, so there is no GZ34 tube
