No I completely understand. I know some guitar players who I'm good friends with that want to jam and they can hook me up with other guys. I was talking more about like Craigslist

I think you see "pro gear" "Fender" "reliable transportation" and "no drugs" on Craigslist because that cuts out most of the problems the bands have seen in the past and will most likely give them a bass player that plays bass, not a frustrated guitar player.
Think what you want. I said what I needed to say. I've been struggling for the past few years, I have people I can play with. Believe it or not I have lots of struggles with friends, relationships, and daily life. I had an accident a few years ago and suffered some brain damage. But you're not going to believe that either...so I don't know why I try. You can always personal message me for fine details.
I agree with that. Usually I don't reply to these people but I have made posts in the past where I've gotten several replies, met up with folks and jammed. I'm not one of those people that want to just dive right into a band, I also want to do some originals. It's also easier for me to build off of someone else's work rather than making my own groove. So many people just want to do covers and very few want to play challenging pieces.
Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy plays his signature Squire, he can afford any custom shop Fender he wants( would probably have it handed to him for free anyway) I know hes not the greatest bass player and not too many guys on here care for him,but, the facts are the facts, hes in a VERY popular band, and Im sure he always gets the girl, obviously his presentation is better than his preparation,lol.
This is exactly why I will never buy a Squier. God forbid I should never be respected by douchebags.
Ok that was sarcasm in case nobody noticed. I've actually been impressed by people playing their Squier up on stage, I looked up and I was like, "Wow, he is playing a Squier! ", and then I was over it. Sounded like a bass, what more do you need?

Some people try to bolster their arrogance by including the brand names of their possessions. I must be "Okay" or have "Class" (just another ego-feeding proposition for many) because My (insert object, attribute, whatever) is better/bigger/smaller than yours. They're trying to fill up that gaping hole in their gut...good luck with that one. Hasn't worked for me yet.
Edit: this can also apply in reverse: consider the bum laying in the gutter, looking down his nose at the musicians passing by with their fine and costly instruments (that they purchased for the enjoyment of their quality build).

Glad to see your cousin has picked up his instrument again. If he gets some skills playing a less expensive guitar, he may amaze himself if he ever upgrades his instrument. Obviously higher price does not always translate into being a better quality instrument, but I have seen musicians who learned on lesser gear discover more ease in playing an upgrade.
The way I see it is that it's whatever works for you. IF it works. I've been in bands with some guys who spend more time trying to get their gear to work than actually playing. That's about the only time I'll say anything.
Let's leave out anybody that has a signature Squier. Most people would play a dead dog with strings on it if they had a contract. And since most people would agree that he sounds like he's playing a dead dog with strings on it then we can probably call him the exception that proves the rule.

Wow, I dont even have anything intelligent to respond with. Im a fan of Squier instruments, I have owned some and would buy more, I like nice basses and would love to own many that are available, money permitting of course.....but really the instrument is just a vehicle for my expression, and if a dead dog with strings on it works, then so be it.
and I cant stand Guitar Center, thats unrelated, just thought I would mention it.
And youre right, id a company said heres a bunch of money, can we put your name on this dead dog with strings I would ask where to sign, because money is pretty cool, and more money is even cooler.
I sometimes can't stand it either. Especially when I see kids playing instruments and they don't even hang them back up and just leave them for others to pick up. I could go on and on with what I've seen
I'm just trying to illustrate a point. I'm not bashing Asian made guitars at all. Play what you like by all means. But if someone is missing out on gigs because they don't play the standard then it may be time to get over it and buy one. With the prices of Squiers now, you can get a used American Standard for the price of two Squiers, which in my opinion is a serious upgrade but ymmv.
