I currently have a set of innovation silver slaps, I rather like these, but I like more of loose tension of more whacker type strings. I've heard good things about sbw deluxes. Has anyone else tried this combo before?

Double Bass superior bassworks deluxe vs innovation silver slaps

It's my understanding that the superior deluxe are a "copy" of the original Lambert Deluxe set. I would assume that the tone would be something similar to Lamberts, which will be very different from silver slaps. Lamberts have more tension and far better tone IMO than ordinary wackers.
I play Lamberts on my G-D-A and love them, but I play mostly old time music so I'm trying to fake gut tone. Prior to that I had silver slaps. They are good strings, but I like the Lamberts much more.
If you are playing slap, you'll probably love the superiors tension. They will lack definition (especially on E-A) if you are trying to play anything other than roots type music.
You will need to file your nut and bridge slots to accommodate the string diameter if you choose to stick with them as they are closer to plain gut in diameter. You may also have to raise your string height to get the tension high enough to keep them from being "floppy".

I am also keeping an eye on this topic and appreciate hearing about the Superior Bassworks strings from anyone who can compare them to traditional plain gut, particularly the G and D. I am thinking of trying them with some type of wrapped string on the A and E, hoping to fake a classic jazz guts on top wrapped on bottom sound without the classic gut issues... and expense! thanks for your input, sevenyearsdown!
superiors are great for slapping and work well for pizz in loud volume settings where a more muted string controls sustain. they have less sustain than plain gut and less volume so may be harder to use in a jazz setting. A lot depends on the bass though. Some basses get a pretty decent sustain with whackers. And for the price doesn't hurt too much to try.
Thank you all for your input. Its appreciated. I'd love to hear more about deluxes. If you can think of any bands that you know they jave recordings with these strings that would be cool. I know it won't sound quite the same, but it would still be interesting. Do they have more of a boom or more of a plasticy sound that fmi wackers have?
