Superior Drummer, MIDI, jumping into the Unknown

Also be realistic. You can't really have a very articulated hi-hat work and ride at the same time. It is physically impossible to do that. Also use dynamics and go easy on the tom fills.
What MIDI questions do you have specifically
There are 16 MIDI channels per MIDI port (not sure how many ports are available but I have only worked with 2 ports ) If you have more than one instruments best to use another Channel. Everything defaults to Channel 1 in their send and many are also set to receive messages from all channels. Depending on your DAW, adding a new MIDI instrument will auto increment the channel to the next one available.
See if this program also supports Key switches for triggering parameter changes. Key switches are notes outside the playable range (usually below A0 but you can also set it higher)

Hopefully you have an extra M.2 slot on the motherboard & can add a 4TB drive.

Hmmm. I may uninstall everything and then put it all on the SSD (2TB) when it arrives and see if that works. While the sounds I'm getting out of my new recording rig are certainly superior to my old Lenovo/Sonar set up, I have to admit I'm not super impressed with Apple thus far. I'm sure it will be great once I have all of this figured out, but it's been a frustrating process and more costly than I initially anticipated.
Free midi loops should be built in. I don't have this specific software, but in general those are a good starting point. I also have purchased several loops from Groove Monkey. There free stuff on the internet. I still find that with some of my stuff, it doesn't exactly fit. This is where editing comes in. Find something close to what you want. Bring that up in the midi editor that should be built in to your software. I have also brought in a loop just to green-field it and start with bass and snare or just cymbols to build a beat around.

Well it took me way longer than necessary to figure out that you need a DAW to bring the loops into and setup a song. But is also through setting up a virtual instrument in the DAW for the drum software that you get to do everything.

Indeed the learning process was fun.
Steinburg invented the VST so it wasnt too confusing at first. To many aftermarket DAWS that moved away from the original rolling piano screen that Cubase
was famous for. All us outboard guys were use to cubase already. Just the new one had this thing called " VST"
Well, Sweetwater tech support sorted me out. My hands many not be overly small, but my HD apparently is. 500 MB. They said to call them back when my SSD arrives and they'll help me figure out how to move all the things that should be on the SSD over and get everything optimized. A little bummed as I'm kid-free this weekend and had hoped to get to use the Hansa pack, but I can probably get something going with what I did manage to install.
My Frankenkit. The "real" Hats are waaay better for my very below average Stewart Copeland hat work..

Are you using samples or just whatever sounds are in the hardware? I had EZ Drummer previously and I got it specifically for the Twisted Kit so I could get some Tom Waits percussion ensemble sounds happening. Still have that but wanted to upgrade. I'm really stoked to try out the Hansa kits and rooms.
I can sample individual sounds, patterns, loops, record to HD, construct sounds and kits from scratch with several different types of synthesis, sequence patterns from scratch, layer preset patterns over custom patterns, add effects onboard, fade patterns and kits over each other while mixing levels within each pattern and drum machine.
By then it's dinner time and I've accomplished little except for having lots of fun.
In Logic you need to turn on the MIDI clock out. It's under project settings sync. If you want to mess with an unsupported controller, I have messed around a bit in the controller assignments window (option+shft+k). There are a lot of, essentially, hidden commands you can assign to anything in Logic. It is just not user friendly and you need to save and replace preference files to be safe, but there is a way to force Logic to do things it doesn't want to do. Here is my clock out settings. Just checked the boxes.
Oh, also, and please do not take this as a slight, but always make sure that if you have a chain of devices with MIDI I/O and MIDI thru, that everything is powered on and working. I have wasted time on stuff that a basic power check would solve (like something in the chain wasn't powered on...)
I'm not a MIDI or Logic expert, but I am happy to answer anything I can. Good at that combo tho. Ableton should be a plugin like Reason (and Max). I like the automation lanes of Cubae and Logic. I do a lot of CV to MIDI and back and forth with ZOIA's. Not a MIDI master but good with the basics.
