I had SD2 for a bit and it was great but for my use I prefer to use EZ Drummer instead just for how quick and easy I can get good sounds going. But I basically just use it for recording demos of ideas to send off to my bandmates before we track live drums. In terms of midi setup, it should be pretty straightforward but there's a pretty big learning curve in how to program midi drums effectively. If you are programming midi using a keyboard roll in a DAW, make sure to get the key map for your kits uploaded into the DAW. I'm assuming they'll give you all of that with SD3 but I can't remember if it automatically loads into the DAW or not.
