I'm considering selling my Natural Ash Huntington I. It's never left the studio and is in mint condition. I installed the TV Jones Thunderblade pickup, which completely solves the low volume outer string problem that is inherent with the Supro stock pickups.

Hi everyone... Found this delightful thread as I was having issues with my Huntington III (can I join the club?). I bought mine for $1100 off Reverb almost a year ago because I loved the look (and that Jack White appearance on SNL)... so I just paid what they asked, sigh.
Anyway, I too have a few issues and after spending 90 minutes reading all 20+ pages I've concluded:
1) weak E string: yep, as fingerstyle player this is maddening. I'm generally a round wound guy. I'll explore some other string options. Various folks have recommended.
- Smith RW SS 44-63-84-106
- Labelle flat DTBs
- ghs Brite flats 49-108
- ghs groundwounds (higher tension)
- Fender 5250 nickel plated round wounds
- Newtone Platinum 30" scale 45-105
Someone mentioned "setting the witness points" extra aggressively.
And cutting the silks off strings. (I don't have them anyway).
Or replacing the pickups. (I'm not gonna do this)
I tried adjusting the pickups to be tilted toward the E but it made the A louder so, no go. Someone recommended lowering all the pickups a LOT. Haven't tried this.
2) stupid volume taper: yeah, it's horrible. Seems folks like 1m or 500k audio taper pots (not log) and the brands: Cts or music Lily. Issue, may require drilling your pickguard.
Are they any brands that are good that don't require drilling.?
3) tuning stability: of the 5 basses I own, my supro is the worst at staying in tune. Will replace with Hipshot USA ultralights.
Conclusion: I hope this is a good summary of all the previous posts! I wanted to contribute something too. I'd love answers to the pot questions above.

Hi there! New to forum & am awaiting arrival of my Huntington I. Comes with cheapo gig bag so would be very interested in your case if still available.

One thing about the E string volume, is that thumbing down the E vs finger plucking up results in a much stronger response. I dont know why this is true, but try it. I have actually managed to adjust my playing style to thumb a lot more because of it, and there have been side benefits to that, too
I just picked up a used Huntington I, and I'm considering swapping the pickup. I would like a more throaty sound with less of a gap between the mids and the highs. Highs are fine, but I feel like as soon as I roll off a bit of the high end on the H1, it gets way too dark and undefined. It looks like the options are pretty slim, and TV Jones and Serek seem to be the two I can find. Are there other drop in options? Any suggestions on which sound best?

I ran across this thread after seeing Riley Christensen from Speed of Light with a Supro Huntington II and had never seen one before.

Sent Email to Supro USA , asking about the wiring , mine has two pots and one switch in center , one Magnetic pup , and one Piezo ,
David Koltai replied that mine is non standard and the center switch is probably for switching the Piezo on / off . I have tried to sketch it out , but it does not
make any sense.
Anyone have a wiring diagram using two pots and a central toggle switch ?

The way these worked was that the tone knob push/pulled to engage the piezo. Tone knob pushed in would be piezo off and regular tone control. Tone knob pulled out would be tone 100%, and then turn the knob to adjust piezo blend between 25-50%. My guess would be that the switch just replaces the push/pull function of the tone knob.
I have now got wiring diagrams ( thanks to doran.dragic # 485 ) and checked my Huntington 1 - it is correct . The switch in the center switches the
Piezo on / off .
By the way , I have a set of D`addario Nickel Wound short scale 45 /100 on at moment , no problem with the low E ,
