SVT 6 Pro keeps feedbacking

I have a Ampeg SVT 6 Pro I bought new in 05 and it keeps feedbacking. It started about a month ago but was real bad last night. I keep the amp at my groups jam spot and only use it once or twice a week. I thought something was wrong a while ago but ignored it I guess. Anyway, it gomes ands goes and neither volume or gain seem to affect it. It,s only when I turn the volume on the bass off that it subsides. The guitarist I jam w/ thinks a preamp tube is bad. I sure gould use some help from anyone that knows about hybred amps or amps in general. Thanks.:help:

Could be any number of things, but changing out the preamp tubes is easy enough. Also, how are you setting the eq on that amp. It's a powerful eq, especially the semi-para section. And, those boost knobs can also cause problems. One more thing, what speaker cab are you using?

I,m using a BXT410(Ampeg). I don,t think it,s a problem w/ EQing. I,ve had no problems whatsoever w/ the amp until now. It started a month ago without me changing EQ or really anything. For that matter I haven,t giged w/ it for 2 months so it hasn,t been moved.
