a couple days ago i played in my hometown (nashville) for cma fest with my current artist gig...(josh thompson) it was a backlined show and i had seen in the info they gave us that it was going to be and ampeg rig...so i assumed like most other backlined gigs that it would be a SVT Classic and either and 8 or 4x10 cab...soo...i was surprised that when i got on stage that it was a rack with 2 svt 8 pros in it! i had heard good and bad things and even told by my rep at ampeg that very few had made it over here...soo...my review...it kicked ass! i was really impressed...very warm SVT tone...it filled the stage with plenty of low end and power...i had heard of them blowing up and stuff...maybe thats why they had 2 on stage but...i know a ton of bands played through it before i did and it was workin fine...so maybe we will be seeing some more of these show up? good stuff!

There is a guy on TB that worked for Ampeg and was just let go recently (Jerrold Tiers).

I believe he said he doubted that the new Ampeg (Loud) would be making any of these.

I believe Ampeg/Loud were making heads in Vietnam but failed miserably and have now moved production to South Korea.

Right on all counts, Red. Count yourself lucky that you've ever seen an 8 Pro, Scruggs...they're rarer than virgin hookers

There are/were somewhere around 130 of them total, dunno where they went, lots to artist relations, I know. some are B stock, repaired, some did go to dealers.

When built right, they last and are actually pretty well protected.
