Svt cl issue at the store

I was just up at my local place checking out an svt cl, to compare to my svt2. It sounded like I figured it would but I did miss the graphic eq. I noticed that the bias lights were both red with one flashing green. I turned em with a pick, the left side stayed green and red and the other just red no green at all. It looked liked the middle tube was orange glowing and the other 2 in the first row were way dimmer. I also heard an intermittent rattle. Almost like moving a spring reverb. I also swear I smelled something. I shut it down and let the guy know. Sucks, 1,700 head all jacked up. I'm thinking maybe svt2 pro. That's the next stop

I'm just not seeing the fn humor here.

Really? Try:

1) Going into a store and messing with settings which could damage the unit if used improperly.

2) The store rep not knowing enough to either correct the settings, correct you, or at the very least stop you from messing with it.

3) Running an amp on essentially broken settings and complaining about its performance.

4) Using all of the above information to decide that the amp isn't for you.

It's practically a Chaplin film, man.

Read page 9 before you blow up someone else's amp.

Here we go again with the lack if comprehension. A) it played fine, sounded good. B) it doesn't take a tech to turn a screw according to the instructions right under it. C) they all know what they're doing there D) I didn't notice it til I looked at the back after playing it for awhile, after the store guy hooked it up, I didn't say it wasn't for me, I said I was unsure. shagin people.

Since you feel the amp you test drove might have had issues, I would suggest trying another CL, perhaps at the same store, or maybe another outlet if they don't have another CL in stock.

I wouldn't discount an entire line of amps because of one possible dud.

No I'm not at all. I liked how it sounded even through a 4x10 as opposed my 8x10 and it would've sounded better...I just missed the graphic eq. I'll try more and an svt2pro as well.

I gotta say I think this is a little silly. From everything I've read here, including pg 9 of that manual, the guy did not do anything wrong. He had full permission to do what he did and he seems to have done it the proper way. Everyone is acting like he walked on stage during their set and started adjusting the bias on their amps. Adjusting those controls is a pretty basic move on an SVT. Anyways moving on I'd say check out the 2 pro if you want the graphic eq but also try to find a VR. I've personally found that it's a little closer to the tone of the non pro. It doesn't solve the eq dilemma but it does sound killer. Hope you find what you are looking for man. Cheers.
