Or proof that post-show beers can wipe out memories from before you got drunk.

No metal grille as far as I can tell. The back sure looks a lot like an SVT-350 or other SS head... I still swear the faceplate and controls were different, but now I don't know what to believe. Probably safe to say that thing don't got no tubes up in there.

If the walls were close to tumbling down, and if you were crazy loud with an awesome tone, then there's very few chances that was an SVT-350H...
All right, I'm determined to figure this thing out. Gonna keep tracking down live photos from their tour if that's what it comes down to. Here's a show from last week in Denver.

I cherish knowing that if you find out that it's truly SS, some people will try to convince you that you really didn't like your tone. Truth is, if you like it, you like it, who cares. I have an old SVT Blueline and through my berg nv215 I can tell you that I've seen Jesus smile.

If it turns out it was SS all of the good tone had to come from the vintage Traynor 810. Obviously. ;-)
I hear they use grizzy bear hide for the cab covering, and keep the Traynor employees fed with poutine to keep them happy and productive.
Thru a decent cab, with a lotta drivers in it- i.e. an 8x10/6x10/ 2x15 etc AND if it's well designed- that head WILL give you a decent amount of volume.
I saw UK act-'Crazy Penis' (Dance music) playing locally & they were lumped with the local hire co's gear, & no doubt the request for an AMPEG SVT- was 'fulfilled' with their SVT450H (an AV issue I think as it's silver clothed) & an SVT810- sounded good(I went up right in front of it to TRY & eliminate the F.O.H. PA sound as much as poss.) but I sure noticed the 'clip light' was ON most of the time

Clip light was constantly on for both of us that night too. Rather than twiddling all the knobs after Born Ruffians did their sound check I gave it a whirl with the settings as is... he had the gain cranked, but it sounded really good that way. I clicked on the VT bass pedal anyway, which added even more gnarl to the pot and rolled off some highs and had it where it sounded great. If this thing really is a SS Ampeg head I'll be pretty impressed. I've used SVT-450's as backline a handful of times, usually running through an Ampeg 410 and they always felt underpowered and mushy. Maybe, just maybe, in the past the issue lay with the Ampeg cab rather than the head?
i've used a mid nineties svt 350 through a genz benz 410xb and a carvin 1x15 cab many times in many different situations complimented many times on my tone.shakes your kidneys lol.to bad that svt 350 gave up on me recently by smoking my cabs if anyone has a schematic for it i'd surely appreciate it.thanks this my first day on talkbass it seems very cool
