SVT II Mesh Screen

My 92 SVT-II (non-pro) came with the rear screen but the earlier production models never had them. If your SVT-II does not have the removable power cord, Its an earlier production model.

You'll find info all about this matter In the SVT-II appreciation thread here on T/B, but as I remember you cant just easily install the later style screens on the earlier models. (even if you could find one)

I believe the screens (on the newer models) were actually part of the large top chassis panel, not just a separate screen.

Here's mine:

Just as a protection for the tubes 'n all, On an ol' tube amp I had way back, (well not THAT way back.....)
I went to the local recycle store & bought an old open fireplace grate- cut the expanded steel/wire -grate out & made up a rectangular panel with edges tucked in -so as not to be sharp & it'd siply slide in.
Worked a treat.
Just sayin'....

Hey imagine running into you 2 guys here ;)

I stumbled across the SVT II thread and let me just say, if I didn't read everything you guys had to say about them and was impressed I probably wouldn't own one. I am so glad I do, so thanks to all the SVT II lovers out there, everyone that hears it says "that is the way bass is supposed to sound." Cheers.

Still have a few tube heads around, and the SVT II is still king :smug: . I actually have it on loan to another local bass player for a few gigs this week hoping that he might see the tube "light" again ( and I'm a nice guy too). He previously owned an SVT-CL and did not always have good things to say about it. BTW I have had nothing but good feedback the last few nights.....

On topic, yes the older model SVT II heads did not come with a rear screen. I think that mounted in any sort of rack this would not bother me; the attached power cord would. Throw that beaut in a case of any kind and don't sweat it. If it's really a hazard, I agree with the above posts of fabricating your own. Enjoy that II ~
